Your Choice. You Choose. Your Journey.

Continue to have conversations with your:

Parents/Guardians, Relatives, School Counselor, and Advisory Teacher about what you want to do after high school graduation. Have a Plan A, B, and C.

Going to College (2-year, 4-year, Tribal College or Trade School/Career College)

 

October:  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):

The 2018-2019 FAFSA is open. You can start to submit on October 1st: www.fafsa.ed.gov

The School Counselors will host FAFSA Workshops

 

November: Start and finish your college applications:

Use your time wisely during Advisory/Homeroom, after-school, and the weekends to apply to college

Look for the Freshman Admission Requirements. Make sure you have what it takes to get in. See your School Counselor if you have any questions.

The School Counselors will host College Application Workshops. The dates will be posted in the dorms and shared with your Advisory/Homeroom Teachers and in the morning announcements.

Write down the application deadlines in your Sherman Student Planner.

College Application Fees:

See your School Counselor for a Fee Waiver

If the college you are applying to, does not take a Fee Waiver, pick up the following form:

Request for College Application fee to be paid (must allow 3 weeks prior to the deadline)

3 College Application fees can be covered by the Title VI-Indian Education Grant

Check your e-mail weekly. Most colleges/universities use e-mail and student portals as their official form of communication.

ACT & SAT :

If you want/need to re-take, sign up for the ACT and/or SAT Registration Workshops on Saturday, September 22nd. Just a reminder, you must send your scores directly from ACT and SAT to the colleges you are applying to. The form is available in the School Counseling Office.

They have deadlines. You must get them what they want when they want it.

Enlisting in the Military (US Air Force, US Army, US Coast Guard, US Marines, US Navy)

All seniors will take the ASVAB on November 7th.

Planning on the Job Corps

Find the program in your state or another state and make contact. Eligibility is determined during In-take.

Planning on Working full-time

Create a Resume, Job Search, & Prepare for the Interview
